Yekang Ko, Ph.D.

Dr. Ko is an urban environmental planner whose research focuses on energy-conserving urban form and green infrastructure to support the long-term sustainability and resilience of communities. She received her Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012. She has been funded by the USDA Forest Service, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Graduate Women in Science and UC Berkeley fellowships. Her work on energy planning is featured in the American Planning Association Planning Magazine and IEEE Spectrum. As a member of the UTA President’s Sustainability Committee and a Community Service Learning Faculty Fellow, her teaching and professional projects are based on an interdisciplinary approach to environmental planning and urban sustainability outreach, collaborating with local governments, non-profits, and educators.
