In the heart of a city at the heart of the North Texas region, The University of Texas at Arlington is rapidly becoming the model for what a 21st century urban research university should be: focused on community engagement, teaching, and research discoveries offering big solutions with global impact. With its “R-1: Doctoral Universities—Highest Research Activity” designation by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, UT Arlington is among an elite group of 115 top doctoral research universities in the United States, including Harvard, MIT, and Johns Hopkins.
In other words, our wheels of progress are in constant motion. Our success is powered by our faculty, staff, alumni and many stakeholders – and especially, our students. Over 38,000 students – 12% of whom are international students – are all seeking ways to connect with their campus and the greater community. The number of students residing on campus in increasing and growing number of students live in the 1-2 mile radius. Mobility is vital to making those connections.
Whether zooming from class to the activities center, from a residence hall to the grocery store, UT Arlington students traverse the campus’ 420 acres and beyond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Adjacent to campus in downtown Arlington are an ever-growing number of private student housing options, retail, doctor’s offices, entertainment venues, and job/internship opportunities. Within just a few miles of downtown are a plethora of destinations in Arlington including major retail centers, commercial developments, AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park and Six Flags Over Texas. Studies show that young adults and international visitors not only prefer but expect environmentally- conscious, convenient, inexpensive multi-modal transportation options in an urban setting for commuting, running errands and leisure activities. UT Arlington students are no exception. And almost universally, international students at UTA do not have access to their own car. Approximately half of the student in the residence halls also elect not to have a car on campus.
You’re invited to be a part of UT Arlington’s forward motion and accelerated momentum. As a UTA Bike Share sponsor, you’ll help us enhance mobility and access for our students, faculty, staff and visitors. You’ll help us promote a healthy community, reduce congestion and greenhouse gas emissions on campus, and relieve parking overcrowding.
Enter the bike’s number into the app and tap “START RIDE”. You’ll get a unique code to open and close the lockbox.
Use the key from inside the lockbox to operate the U-lock that attaches the bike to its station. Be sure to shut the lockbox before you ride.
Have fun! Use the U-lock to keep the bike secure if you make stops along the way. When you’re done, lock the bike back to any bike share station and close the lockbox. Then go to the app and tap “END RIDE”.
The UTA Bike Share program includes seven ride share stations on campus and 28 bicycles. Every station, marketing piece and bicycle are highly visible (and often mobile) billboards that yield multiple impressions and unlimited reach for sponsors. UTA Bike Share is designed to expand as demand grows over time. Help us keep the wheels of progress in motion by taking people to where they want and need to go.
